Ashley Iles “Canterbury” carving set is a UK made set of 12 wood carving gouges offering good value and high quality for the more advanced woodcarver. The set includes-
* 1/16" (1.5mm) x Sweep 11 straight gouge;
* 1/4" (6mm) x Sweep 4 straight gouge;
* 1/4" (6mm) x Sweep 9 straight gouge;
* 1/4" (6mm) x Sweep 39 V-gouge;
* 3/8" (9mm) x Sweep 2 straight corner gouge;
* 3/8" (9mm) x Sweep 3 straight gouge;
* 3/8" (9mm) x Sweep 5 straight gouge;
* 1/2" (12mm) x Sweep 9 straight gouge;
* 1/2" (12mm) x Sweep 15 curved gouge;
* 5/8" (15mm) x Sweep 1 straight chisel;
* 5/8" (15mm) x Sweep 5 straight gouge;
* 3/4" (19mm) x Sweep 4 straight gouge;
The blades are hand-finished O1 carbon steel – this holds a sharp edge well and makes the tool easier and safer to use. As these are hand produced all sizes are nominal. Each gouge is around 9.5”(24cm) long including the hardwood handle and will last the keenest carver a long time.
