I mainly use 3/4"+ carving gouges and Ashley Iles are the perfect weight to use, keep an excellent edge, and are robust tools. Very helpful and high quality service too.

I have just received some new chisels from Ashley Iles and as usual they are excellent tools. I also returned some gouges for sharpening which were sharpened and honed like new!
I use the tools for violin making and I have found the range of shapes and sizes available at Ashley Iles to be excellent for this. Also the quality of the tools makes working with the hardwoods involved in violin making, such as maple, much easier. Also the prices are very competitive when compared to other specialist sites.
I will definitely be ordering from Ashley Iles in the future and couldn't recommend them highly enough.
First rate tools and service.

I received the Glyn Mould fishtail carving chisels - wow these chisels are so light..just perfect.. and the Chris Pye finishing gouges are superb. I am really glad you set this web site up because you get your full selection which other sites who sell your chisels don't offer.... All chisels have been excellently sharp on arrival and the service has been A1, everything I have needed has been in stock.
